Mr. Rajendra Shrestha

Mr. Rajendra Shrestha by profession is a budget and financial management expert with keen interest and knowledge in development issues.  He is the President of Sustainable & Integrated Development Society and currently working in UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia based in Kathmandu, Nepal.  He has in-depth knowledge and understanding in budgeting, financial planning, writing proposals, reporting, reporting, and have linkages with different agencies.

His academic background is in different disciplines.  He has obtained Masters in Development Studies from Sikkkim Manipal University, Masters in Environment from Indian Institute of Ecology & Environment, Bachelor’s in Economics from Tribhuvan University and Diploma in Management Studies (Financial & Personnel Management) from the All India Institute of Management Studies.

He has been associated with development agencies since 1986.  He is also very keen in the preservation of heritage sites and is associated with Nepal Heritage Society.

He is one of the founder members of SIDS and has been elected as a President in 2063 (2006) for two years.

Mr. Devendra Gauchan

Mr. Devendra Gauchan, one of among very few Water and Sanitation engineering experts in Nepal is the Vice-president of Sustainable & Integrated Development Society. Professionally he is an engineer and currently working in UNICEF Nepal Central Regional Office, Chitwan. He has visited European and Asian countries and experienced in the water, sanitation, health, child education, nutrition programme. He has also gained experiences in Water, sanitation, health, child education and issues, social inclusion. Involved in developing different types of water, sanitation, health and other development activities, he has also good knowledge and skills in developing proposal and reporting and good relationship with different development agencies for thirty one years.

He has Master of Science in Industrial and Civil Engineering, Kalinin Polytechnic Institute, USSR (1979-1985), Diploma in Architecture: Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, Nepal. He served as the Project Officer, Technical Focal Person for Primary School Improvement Project, Arsenic project, community water supply and sanitation, rain water harvesting, operation and maintenance for CWSS programme (UNICEF Nepal 1989- to date), Resident Engineer (1987-1989 UNDP/World Bank, Science education development project for Construction of 200 Schools and Hostel building- Building Design Associates Pvt. Ltd, Kathmandu), Asst. Structural Engineer (September-1985 to December 1986), N. D. Lea and Associates in association with Building Design Associates, C. Senior Technician (1977-1979) in various projects undertaken by Building Design Associates Nepal in association with Acres, Norr, Lea Consortium (All Canadian) and Senior Technician (1977) for N.D. Lea and Associates/Canada in association with building design associates (Nepal).     

He is among the founder members and elected as a Vice-president in 2063 for two years.

Mr. Krishna Mani Adhikary

Mr. Krishna Mani Adhikary is one of the key Board Members of SIDS. Currently associated with NEWAH as the Finance Manager, he has gained experiences for a long time of period in overall financial accounting; management accounting, proposal development and fund-raising and reporting. Sharp in inter-personal relationship with different stakeholders he has been involved with various national and international organizations for twenty six years.

He is Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal and Registered Auditor (RA) “B class” from Institute of Chartered Accountants Nepal (ICAN).

Serving as Finance Manager in NEWAH (July 1995-to date), he was Finance Officer in WaterAid Nepal (July 1990-July 1995), Accountant in Social Welfare Council (September 1983-July 1990), and Accountant in Nepal Transport Corporation (July 1982-September 1983). His auditing works, financial, budgeting, fundraising consultancies are the additional strength.

He is the founder member of the SIDS and elected as a Secretary General in 2063 for two years.

Mr. Dasharath Prasad Rimal

 Mr. Dasharath P. Rimal, Training & Advocacy Expert, has gained experiences from different social institutions currently works in Social Work Institute. He has visited some Asian countries and experienced in different developmental works and experienced like Monitoring and Evaluation of projects, Community Research, Institution Building, Facilitator of PRA and Social analysis, Long term & short term planning, Monitoring of Financial Activities and Procedure of NGOs, water, sanitation, health, child education, nutrition programme, training activities, and community management that include service to the senior citizens agencies for eighteen years.

He is running Master in Sociology from Tribhuban University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal.

Serving as Programme Officer in Social Work Training Institute (January 2005 to date), he was District Coordinator / District Resource Person in Saptari District employed for  ngo/cbo Participatory Learning and Advisory Project /NPLAP (March 2004 to December 2004),  Project Supervisor in Social Work Institute (March 1998 to 31st December 2003), Senior community organizer in Action Aid Nepal (August 1994 to Nov. 1998), Community Motivation and Education Organizer in Action Aid Nepal (March 1992 to Aug 1994). He had joined the Action Aid Nepal as the Storekeeper (Nov. 1990 to March 1992)

He is among the founder members and elected as a Treasurer from 2063 for two years.


Ms. Sushila Adhikari
Executive Member

Ms. Sushila Adhikari is ACCA and BBS Finalist but equally devoted to working for rural development. She is among the young cadres of NGO movement of Nepal demonstrating willingness to work in every difficult situation. She is practicing auditing works in Chartered Accountants firm and involving in different social trainings held by different NGOs & INGOs.

She is a life member of SIDS and is elected as an Executive Member in 2063 for two years.

Mr. Greg Whiteside

Mr. Greg Whiteside, a well-known and highly experienced development expert currently working in Nepal, is the Advisor of SIDS. He has extensively visited Africa, Europe and Asia in order to facilitate development programmes. He has specialized in Institutional development, social inclusion and partnerships for improved public health outcomes (esp. water and sanitation)

 He has done Independent consultancy for Nepal safe motherhood programme, DFID Nepal, Swiss Red Cross (Tibet & Nepal), WaterAid (Nepal, Bangaladesh, Australia, London), World Bank Nepal, Nepal Water for Health, UNEP-ILEC, Japan and Britain- Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) and Helvetas.

 He served as Country Representative (WaterAid Nepal 1993-2000), Resident Engineer (WaterAid Nepal 1991-1993), Resident Engineer (WaterAid Sierra Leone 1987-1991), Water Engineer – Disaster Unit (Oxfam Sudan 1985), Technical Development Officer (VSO in London 1983, 1986) and VSO Volunteer- Vocational Skills Trainer (VSO in the Gambia 1980-1983)

 He is associated with SIDS as the advisor from April 1, 2007.


Mr. Harihar Adhikary
Program Manager

Mr. Harihar Adhikary, a well-known and highly experienced programme development and training expert currently works in SIDS as a Program Manager. He has visited abroad in order to present country papers in different topics and participated in international dialogues, seminars and workshops. Specialized in proposal development and NGO management he has designed and facilitated numbers of training including report writing, gender sensitive project planning, log-frame, facilitation skills, office management, and public relation for more than three decades. Communication behavior is one of the areas he worked for a long period of time. He is popular by his pen name Shyamal.

 Post Graduate in Nepali literature and Linguistic Science from Tribhuwan University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal, he is also a prominent poets.   

 He has worked a number of high level assignments independently as a freelancer consultant for Ministry of Health and Population to develop Umbrella Health Communication Strategy, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population to develop of School Health and Nutrition Programme, School and Community Health Project (SCHP) a joint venture of Government of Nepal, Japan International Cooperation Agency-JICA and Japan Medical Association-JMA.

He has served as a Communication and Monitoring Specialist to UNDP's Sustainable Community Development Programme (Nepal Capacity 21) from May 1999 to December 2002. He has translated a number of books and policy documents from English to Nepali and Nepali to English: Unicef, and UNDP and many other agencies. He worked as the Senior Training Coordinator in Save the Children US, Himalayan Field Office (from July 15, 1995 to January 30, 1999), and Community Liaison Consultant to GoN/Asian Dev. Bank -1994. He also worked in the Nepal Red Cross Society in different capacities that include Tracing and Refugee Affairs, Dissemination In-Charge, Training and Planning Officer for 12 years (1983 to 1994). In the beginning of his professional career he was once Teacher and journalist. He is honored by the Government of Nepal and many other organizations for his significant contribution to Nepali literature.
